USDA Reports a 39% Increase In Food Assistance Payouts

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), a branch of the USDA reports an increase of 39% in the number of individuals being served by the FNS program.

Over 40 million people participated in the program in 2010 whereas 33 million participated in 2009.  See chart below:
